Okay…so I have an affinity for Fremont or Freakmont or Freelard…whatever they call this part of Seattle. One thing is for sure; it sure is heavy with the rock. Again The High Dive packs ‘em in for an amazing bill with Seattle’s Ice Aged Cobra on top.

IAC is a trio that’s packing the intensity of early 90’s Seattle in their pockets. With a load of successful tours with the likes of San Diego’s The Bloody Hollies and Seattle’s Thee Emergency and last October’s release of “Brilliant Ideas for Amazing People” and you will understand why IAC gigs are always packed. Their sound is a tasty and convulsive mix of Rock and Roll your mother never told you about. I definitely smell the hot, sticky crackle of Montrose, Zep and The Mooney Suzuki.  It’s also possible that the power of this band could solve Seattle’s transit problems but hey, I’m no smart-ass…okay, check that…I am a smart-ass but not in the book sense of the words. But I do know my rock. I gotta say this was the best rock show I have seen in a while. And I see a lot of rock shows.

Of course I’m inclined to say lots of things when liquored up and tonight was no exception. Note to Liver…sue for damages. You’ll win for sure. The defendant is pure LUSH and will likely arrive in court drunk and/or nursing a hangover…

When the boys finally kick into “You Gotta Move” the place erupts in a Mount St. Helen’s melee’ that could only be topped by, well, the mountain blowing her top. The opening riff in “Tornado of Knives” is shameless homage to Foghat’s “Slow Ride (Sleazegrinder and I also agree there is no shame in loving Foghat). Of course, the crowd not wanting to be outdone instantly froths into a mosh pit. Now that’s love. IAC definitely has one foot firmly planted in 70’s sludge. The other foot is most assuredly kicking the shit out of you. And you love it.
