ADLER'S APPETITE LIVE |
|
|
That is the third year that I’ve seen Adler’s Appetite live, and I'm never disappointed. The band, created by ex-guns n’ roses drummer Steven Adler, always takes me back to the good times, not only onstage, but backstage too, where the atmosphere of sex, drugs and rock and roll is still alive and well… AA was formed in 2004, originally by Jizzy Pearl (Love/hate), Keri Kelli (L.A guns, Warrant, Ratt, etc), Robbie Crane (Vince Neil Band), Brent Muscat (Faster Pussycat) and the star of the show, Mr. Steven Adler. Unfortunate circumstances* caused Brent to leave the band last year, and a relatively unknown guitarist, Craig Bradford, joined them to tour in 2005. Back to the present, Steven showed up this year with a whole new band, much to my surprise. He fired all his former musicians, and hired younger ones…….and the reasons? He said he wanted a real band that cared about the music, not the money.
Of
course, Keri Kelli & Co have sued Steven….let’s see what happens now. |

The new line-up consists of Chip Z’ Nuff (Enuff Z’Nuff) on bass, JT Longoria (Izzy Stradlin’), and Mike Thomas (Beautiful Creatures) on guitars, and a new young singer, Sheldon Tarsha, who danced and sang almost like Axl Rose. Wednesday, 18th January. I went to the AA’s hotel to meet the guys before the gig, and the new band were even nicer than the old one. I have to say I missed Jizzy, but soon the confidence grew between us, and we started joking and drinking as we headed for the venue. When I arrived, the opening act “Gypsy Pistoleros” were playing; an English band that I highly recommend. Meanwhile, we were backstage drinking beer, which, of course, ran out too quickly. |

The venue was small and the tickets didn’t sell out, but the people that were there really enjoyed a crazy rock and roll night. The started the show with “It’s So Easy” and the crowd went totally mad. Sheldon had incredible energy and during the show, the people sang along to every word. They played almost the whole “Appetite for Destruction” album. I only missed “I Think About You” and “Anything Goes”, but they did play “Civil War”, a very emotional moment, and two covers: “Sin city” by AC/DC and “Mama kin” by Aerosmith. They ended the show with “Paradise city”. It drove the crowd even more nuts. Total madness. Nobody left the place disappointed. And for me, the party was just starting. After the show, we all drove back to the hotel. Like, 12 people, all-piled up in the mini-bus. Between beer and more beer, the band nicknamed me Courtney Love (WTF?) and Steven, who had disappeared with one little groupie, showed up at the hotel bar in his “The Simpsons" underwear to get more booze! Definitely was a fuckin’ cool rock and roll night, and as usual, I ended up coming with the band to the rest of the Spanish shows. Great. ________________________________________________________________________________ |
