What was the first adult film you saw, and what do you remember about it?

Wow, I don't know the name... I remember thinking, 'Wow, it really is going in!'

Talk about making the jump from regular citizen to Eon McKai, porn director.

Well, it really started with a Myspace account that I started before I made my first movie. ThenI moved into the web site, and Suicide Girls gave me an account too. The Eon McKai alias got hashed out during that time. It gives me the freedom to not be Eon McKai some times, but the more time Ido this, the more I live as Eon and not whoever I was before porn.

Why did you choose porn to express your ideas? Were you encouraged to go the underground or art-film route instead?

I felt I was in the right place to bridge the gap between the alt porn stuff that was on the net, but had not properly gotten to videos. I enjoy working with the moving image with sound, and really just wanted to see this shit happen.

Did your vision meet with much resistance from VCA once you started working with them?

Hmmm...yeah, it's been a very interesting year... but now they're gettin it. It was a lot of work to get stuff the way I want it to be. And it's still a struggle, but kids have to know that we're really for real and doing it inside this old porn company, enlivening it  for them...

What influence did Antonio Passolini (Raw, The Ozporns) have on you?

Well, I would kick it in his office and talk about porn and music. He pushed for me to get Art School Sluts made for a bigger budget -- he really got stuff going for me.

He was a mentor for real, as were a lot of the old VCA directors. I do this for them and the VCA name.

I know the Dark Brothers (New Wave Hookers) and Alex De Renzy (Femmes De Sade) have had an impact on your films. Can you talk about what you get from their films?

Well, it looks like that did what they wanted, and so I try to do the same all the time. It's hard to keep focused in this biz on what it is youre about, because it's so much about just selling sex and as many units as possible. But their stuff had heart and vision, so I strive for the same.

Music and music culture seem to have an influence on your work as well. Have you been approached by bands or labels to work on videos? Is that an interest of yours?

 Yes. I guess that comes through in my stuff. It's funnybecause I did music videos before, and still do. And now Eon McKai is doing some -- I just did a video for Louis XIV under the McKai name. It's just so funny that Eon might have a bigger career in music video than I do...

Your actresses have a very specific look. What are your criteria for casting?

No fake boobs. And they have to have a real alt style.

Is any part of Art School Sluts based on personal experience? I went to an art school of sorts, but I don't recall a lot of sluts.

Hmmm, yeah... it's based on my time in art school and the Eightball comic Art School Confidential, which is the truth about art school. I don't know where you went, but art school girls are easy!

I must've been in the wrong dorm. Explain the premise behind your atest, Kill Girl Kill.

Kill Girl Kill is more a wall-to-wall movie, so there is not a real story. Just some vibe and some fucking.

Who has a more difficult time understanding your concepts -- the cast and crew or the company?

The Company, always. If I'm not making VCA nervous, I'm not doing my job.

Greg Dark made the leap from adult to low-budget features to mainstream music videos. Are you interested in making a similar crossover?

I'll take it if it comes. I keep getting approached for stuff, but Los Angeles is that type of town. A lot of people talk in this city. Few act.

If you were the head of VCA, what would you do with the company?

I would sign a few struggling friends in the alt porn world, but I'm not good with money stuff. I can only make stuff.

What's next?

Well, after the Kill Girl Kill Trilogy (according to Eon, there will be two more 'wall-to-wall' movies--UD), I'm gonna put my best girls in a new feature, and get something big cooking again.
