Anthrax - We've Come For You All

Buying the Anthrax single Soldiers of Metal when it first came out, and seeing these guys do Deathrider as an opening song at the Channel in Boston at a volume unheard of these days (unless you are the Melvins, or something) brings back some crazy memories of some crazy fucking shows. Always a good time at an Anthrax show and I think Sleazegrinder Miester General will testify to that. When I first heard about this CD, there was talk floating around in the music scene (or from the band) that they were going back to the heavier, older style of Anthrax. You hear it all the time from bands releasing their newest material. (It's the "we are going back to the old roots, it's our heaviest release yet" bit.) Their last two CDs were kinda on the middling side, with a couple of raging good tracks (American Pompeii's one), so I think from experience I learned that sometimes going backwards is not a good thing. I'm glad they chose not to. Best to keep moving forward, onward, mush, mush.........onward soldiers march....This CD is Anthrax's best release since The Sound Of White Noise. Strong songwriting, great vocals and choruses that stick in you head for a long time after hearing it, (especially on Superhero and the title track.) And is that a blast beat in there for Black Dahlia? Spoken in the words of Billy Milano, "Charlie doesn't fake". (I could not resist a SOD quote here, kill me later.) A strong mature release from these guys and thank God they got rid of the stupid rubbery face NOT bit.
