Guttermouth
Eat Your Face
Epitaph

__________________________________________

The tenth go-round for Guttermouth, Eat Your Face is being heralded as a “return to form” for the veteran snotnosed punkers. That means that there are more songs about getting drunk and puking (“Second DUI,” “NRAA”) than on their last few records, which is a good thing in many circles. There’s also plenty of knocks against cash-in punks (“Seasons,” “Surf’s Up Asshole,” “The Next Faux Mohican”), songs about losing your toupee in the ocean (“Octopus Hairpiece”), snuffing annoying children (“My Neighbor’s Baby”), chant-alongs about smacking someone with food (“Hot Dog to the Head”—“Weiner to the face/Puts you right in your place”), and in case you think Guttermouth isn’t an equal opportunity offender, they even slag themselves on “Wasted Lives.” The whole affair is painted in big, jagged ‘80s-era L.A. punk riffs, and sounds like the perfect soundtrack for trashing your living room, jumping off rooftops or taking pictures of your friends while they’re passed out. In case you haven’t had the chance to do any of those things lately, well, here’s the excuse you’ve been waiting for.
