LA GUNS
One thing that makes this album different from other post-major-label offerings is the absence of guitarist Tracii Guns. Technically, there are no more “original” members, so can L.A. Guns go on without the riffs and licks of its namesake axe man? In this case, the answer is “Yes.” A concept album of sorts, Tales From The Strip is a nasty exposé on life in Hollywood, with each song telling a different story of the hood’s most colorful characters. Songs like "It Don't Mean Nothing," and "Gypsy Soul," are sleazy and mean, giving the glam metal of the band’s heyday a modern sheen. And they really shine on the uber-heavy "Hollywood's Burning.” Besides being a
return to form, word on the street is that this new disc is actually
selling quite well, so L.A. Guns may just be back in the game. |
