ZOMBINA & THE SKELETONES |
Zombina
and the Skeletones are a mini-skirt mob of Brit glam-slammers who
pinball from Misfits-y horror-punk to space-ska to sugary garage
rattle, depending on the mood, or moon cycle, or whatever it is that
motivates groovy ghoulies to dig their guitars outta the muck and go
bananas. This is the third single in a trilogy of terror that will most
likely end in a pleasantly schizophrenic album that will glow in the dark
and scream when you touch it. Until then, you get the adventures of “Staci
Stasis”, a blonde with a ray gun, blasting from the edges of the
galaxy straight to your rock n’ roll heart. Her theme songs is pure
Transvision Vamp, a tasty pink cocktail of fluffy 60’s garage-pop
riffs and new wave bounce. The b-siders, “Astroboy” and “Red
Planet”, are both sci-fried chunks of snotty glam-pop, hook-filled and
nutra-sweetened. Fun stuff, and as charming as a cartoon vampire girl with
a big knife behind her back can possibly be. Which is plenty, it turns
out. _______________________________________________________ |
