Netjajev SS Prome Night Hits __________________________________________________
“Prome Night Hits” ( I think it’s supposed to be
“Prom” with an extra “e”. Maybe that’s funny, or somethin’) is an
awesomely primitive gutter-trash garage punk/ psychotic, triple-speed
hardcore blowout from the wilds of Sweden. I mean, this fucker is so DIY
that the cover appears to be printed on a paper bag, and the only
production skinfo Netjajev SS offer up is “Not recorded…shit into
existence”. None of the songs are over a minute and a half long, but at
least there’s 19 of ‘em to choose from. The best ones are the actual rock
n’ roll songs – gravel throated street-fight anthems like “Willie is the
Wild One” and “Pride Parade (Napalm Raid)” that sound like an American
greaser punk band stabbing itself in the eyes. Oh yeah, I suppose I oughta
mention that Netjajev go out of their way to shock and offend in classic
berzerko punk rock tradition, hence song titles like “Assassinate
Mandela”, “Springtime in Belsen” and “Sarin in the Air”. But hey, just cuz
they’re assholes doesn’t mean they don’t TOTALLY rock for like, 40 seconds
at a time. Oh, and “I’m an Elf” appears to have a chipmunk on vocals. Or
possibly an actual elf, albeit a helium sucking one. Anyway, if yr in the
mood for 20 or so minutes of angry, drunken Swedish nonsense – and who
knows, you just might be – then this is exactly that. Only louder, and
with chainsaw guitars. And screaming.
