The songs on this stellar demo (how a cluster-fuck of Big Hits like this gets relegated to promo-only status is just mondo-beyondo…the whole world’s comin’ to an end, Mal!) will remind you of Guns N’ Roses, Hanoi Rocks, the New York Dolls, and the aforementioned Daredevils and Pistols (both Crystal and Sex), and you will love everyone of ‘em, although maybe “Addicted” will get special attention, since it’s got a sweet-ass pop chorus. Oh, and “Trailer Trash Trixie” will surely please anyone old enough to have lived and seethed through the flash metal era, as every band worth their stripey spandex back then had a song just like this, called, like, “Back Alley Bertha” or “Subway Sally” or whatever. I, for one, miss the shameless odes to band-sluts, complete with whammy-bar solo, and RLR has a real scorcher here with “Trixie”. Opener “Get the Feeling” packs a massive, arena-rattling punch, too. They all do, really. Staci’s vox sound like a whiskey gulping junkyard dog, and his guitar sounds like some evil mind-meld betwixt Heartbreakers-era Thunders, Monster Magnet’s Ed Mundell on acid-fry mode, and Paul Stanley’s Love Gun. The rest of the band back him up like the overwrought heroes in a Japanese sci-fi cartoon, and the whole affair is like a two-ton Nagasonic glitter bomb exploding over Rock City. Utterly bitchin’. Of course, I dunno how you get a copy of this – I’ve been giving them away to the sexier specimens among us, but that shit ain’t gonna last forever - so get to hunting, because this slithery descent into full-bore cock n’ roll is hot enough to get you through the long, ugly slog of winter better than a pair of newly enhanced tits and a bottle of anything. __________________________________________________ |
