SADIES
Tales of the Rat Fink

Who better to wheel in to put the animation into hot-rodded overdriven dribble mode for this tale of Kustom Car King Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth than psychotropic troubadours of the big bang boogaloo The Sadies? Apparently named after venues they’ve played at on their travels these 26 songs traverse a splendidly well-mapped picturesque panorama of picaresque pit-stops and piss-ups, leaving petrol and plectrums where possibly only perverts and the most pickled country picker still scratch.

Impeccable virtuosity and porcupine quill-sharp scene setting (or drifting!) doesn’t strip any sheen away from this little slip of fun, possibly the most thirst-slakin’, surf-soarin’ fun you can have no matter what your radius from a rollin’ coastline. Hell, if you ain’t near a coastline I’m sure a landslide or avalanche can be plucked from under you to surf the turf on! So long as something gets rollin’ that’s all that counts with this ethically unclamped vineyard of Morricone cigar-lighting spaghetti wave-wearing western swinging sasquatch snogging rocking chair collapsing cornucopia of twang-tripping delirium tangled in tyre-tracks and T-shirts greasier than the most pomade-riddled pompadour like Duane Eddy and Dick Dake in a chain-gang digging a ditch at the roadside of a Byrd carcass-strewn highway on the road again to the hillbilly hop in heaven in, yuss, you guessed it…

Fantastic, and fantastically, astrally so. Makes you smell the pine trees n’ petrol in a day-glo colour scheme befitting it’s animated accompaniment, whilst dazzling you like the Las Vegas custom car show. If this don’t make yer motor hummmm then, Stu, son, we have us a problem.
