THE PROFESSIONALS
The Best Of The Professionals

The Professionals were born out of the ashes of Sex Pistols, right after their infamous career-busting gig in San Francisco. Guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook still wanted to rock, and even contributed some post-Rotten music to the mockumentary film on the Pistols, The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle. The Professionals’ straightforward rough-and-tumble approach seemed a natural progression from the sneering punk sounds of the pair’s former band.

This brand-new comp showcases 14 songs from the band’s album on Virgin Records, I Didn’t See It Coming, as well as singles and tracks from a self-titled album released years after the band’s demise. Jones’ distinct guitar work—a signature in the Pistols’ sound—is in full force on these tracks, where he also handles the lead vocals. The sound is anthemic pop punk, laden with chain-gang choruses and driving riffs. Stand-out cuts are the feisty opener “Just Another Dream,” the in-your-face single “1-2-3” and the punchy, attitude-laden “Kick Down The Doors.”

The Best Of The Professionals is a nice introduction to one of the finest bands to emerge from the waning days of the original punk scene. And it’s chock full of rousing anthems that will stick in your psyche well after the music’s over. __________________________________________________
