PAUL REVERE AND THE RAIDERS
|
Whilst a tasty treat and surprise to
this little ol' binge drinker me as I don't think I was aware The
Raiders were on operations as early as 1960 this hotch potch
collection of twinkle toed sparkly eyed instrumentals, in the main, is
never gonna be a definitive, essential release. But once that's outta the
way this is an enjoyable romp that you could put on to soundtrack a Rockin'
dinner party, chinwag with your chums or learn to swing and bop with your
beau. Swinging, Rockabilly twangy surf selections and jazz inflected,
thankfully not infected, Memphis Slim sozzled in Paris groovers smitten
with the showgirls and that can-can thang that still contain that certain
something that made Rock'n'Roll so deliriously fucking good ya know? You
could almost chootle around the room doing some vacuuming to this...if you
actually DO any! Or that other thing, what is it, now?..ironing is
it?Stay clear if instrumentals bug you
daddio, you dig, but worth investigating if you have a thang for that
twang, or just don't wanna be reading a book and having a nightcap in the
wee wee hours with Dean Dirg, Dead Boys or Demented
blasting out. sure pays to sit back in the saddle sometimes and just
glide. |
