Ok,
so this one’s not exactly “out” yet, but fuck, I’ve got a copy, so
how hard can it be? The Powerknobs are Chicago’s finest exporters of
filthy, fuzzed-up raunch n’ roll, and this here is their full-length debut.
It’s a monstrous slab of mean machine Detroit thunder that’s hairy, horny,
and as catchy as the clap in a Tijuana brothel. Oh yeah, and you can dance
to it too, if you’ve got a go-go cage handy. Most o’ the time, the
Powerknobs are in full garage-rockin’ rave-up mode, and if you ain’t
twisting, frugging, or otherwise cutting a rug to frat-house burners like
the impossibly catchy “My Baby’s in the CIA” or the supersonic panty
raid of “Sorority Shakedown”, then have yer nurse check for a fuckin’
pulse. Oh, and there’s plenty more rockers, danceable and otherwise, where
that came from, Jack. There’s the haunted house surfadelica of “Gas Mask
a Go Go”, the Iggy-fied classic “I’m Bored”, the acid-punk
fuzzfest of “My Wild Days Have Just Begun”, the shameless Stooges
freak-for-all of “Wild Colonial Boy”, and, of course, the
organ-bleating superspy smash, “Theme from the Powerknobs”. And it’s
all about as FUN as rock n’ roll can get without the cops gettin’
involved. I’m tellin’ ya, I don’t know ANYBODY that doesn’t love the
goddamn ‘Knobs, so really, it ain’t about whether you oughta
have this one, it’s just about how long it’s gonna take to get yr own copy.
I already sent ‘em your sister’s panties to get mine, so think of something
quick and join the party before all the booze is gone, willya? _______________________________________________________________________________________________ |
