Radio One - S/T

Radio One, as the band name, machine gun n’ military star logo, and song titles like “Pipe Bomb Rebels” and “New World Shakedown” would imply, are a buncha rock n’ roll Sandinistas, workin’ for the clampdown. This, their self-titled full-length debut, has lotsa vintage ’77 rebel-punk riffs, lotsa shout-along choruses, and a general air of fiery teenage malcontent. And ok, it’s pretty far away from original- I mean, it’s more of a Clash tribute then, well, yr local Clash tribute band- but what the hell, it’s still a heartfelt, politico-punko wallop of revolution rock, baby. Of course, if they do |
|
manage to get noticed with this album, then they’ll get
signed to Sony or whatever, which will completely fuck up their whole
image. Just ask Rage Against the Machine, man- there ain’t no such thing
as a corporate rebel. But I digress. If ya miss the Clash- and lots of
folks do, I can see it in their eyes- then here’s an accurate,
next-generation versh of ‘em for ya, all amped up and ready to go. I am
personally too old for any goddamn revolution now, but I encourage anybody
kids that want to, to give it a go. Just stay outta my goddamn yard. ___________________________________________________________________________ |
