Toronto-an
toxic trash hounds RLR trace a template from the Troubadour in mid to late
80’s L.A. In fact they’re a perfectly palatable companion piece to the
Hollywood Rocks boxset with sub-AC/DC party-pop beer boogie like ‘Drag
Race’ and the Motley Crue lunk-headed attempt at Southern Rawk of ‘Trailer
Trash Trixie’. If this was a record from that era then there’d be a
certain historical interest but as it’s from the present day it’s too
tired and in thrall to trite eighties sleaze rock to set my night on fire.
For all their stories of wastedness and addiction, they lack the loose
punk edge, switchblade drive and powerful personality of bands such as
Backyard Babies or The Yo-Yo’s, which this metallic bar-room rock really
needs to surge. ________________________________________________________ |
