ADQ
(as we will know call them, as I am only willing to spell out their mouthful
of a name once) are a buncha Italian cats – straight outta Bologna,
matter of fact- who play instro-mental, garage rattle n’roll. Sometimes they
flirt with 60’s style surf and spy-jazz guitars, as on the insanely titled “When
Clint Eastwood Hurried Peyote”, and sometimes with Pussy Galore-esque
fuck-blues (title track, “Go Apeshit”). Hell, sometimes they even
throw in some hysterical-drunken-bitch screamin’. Anything goes with these
cats, ya know. Mostly, tho, ADQ sound like they oughta be wearing
masks. Zorro style would be good, possibly full-head gorilla jobs, maybe
Mexican wrestler get-ups. They might also wanna think about being visually
represented by cartoon motorcycles that talk, or perhaps chimpanzees in
dresses. That’s the kinda music this is, dig? Fun and freaky. Closer “I’m
Going to Put My Foot Down” is the real clincher, a twangy, Ventures-style
instro-rocker that just tears it up, daddy-o, but if yer in the mood to just
go ape for awhile, ya really can’t miss with these crazies, no matter where
ya drop the needle. So to speak.
