Ex-Crumbsuckers
hardcore/thrash metal juggernauts from NYC (where else?) Pro Pain
explode like a skull thru a windshield on this pressure-blowing ode to
blue-collar rage. Personally, I don’t really have anything against music
made specifically for teenage boys to beat the shit out of each other to-
it’s not like I’M gonna be there, or nothin’- and that’s exactly what
this is. Blunt, hammering, thrash metal riffs, war drums, Pantera-styled
stomping, and lots- LOTS- of tough guy yelling and screaming. I mean,
this Meskil character is so pissed off that I don’t even GET
what he’s enraged about half the time, although I think the general stink
being raised on this one is that the war is fucked up – no kidding- as songs
like “American Dreams” and “Freedom Rings” would suggest.
Other times, tho, they don’t really rise above a localized bile: “If you’re
in, I want out/ Fuck you all/Goodbye!”. Which is fine, ya know, give the
people what they want and all, and people are pretty fuckin’ angry these
days, that’s for sure. By definition, “Fistful of Hate” is pretty
bracing stuff, and if yr looking for a fitting soundtrack to split
somebody’s head open with a 2 by 4, this is undoubtedly it.
