It’s
easy to forget that Bombshell Rocks is a Swedish band, because they
just bleed sun-dappled Californian punk. They’ve got the same sinewy riffs
and shoutalong choruses, the same dead-end-kids lyrical themes, the same
bursts of rock n’ roll guitar as bands like Social Distortion, DI, and
Operation Ivy. The only thing that really separates ‘em from their
forebears (besides an ocean) is Bombshell Rocks’ affinity for glam,
specifically of the 80’s Finnish variety. And there ain’t nothing wrong
with that. “The Conclusion” is not, as far as I know, their
last album, despite the finality in the title, but it does mark a decade’s
worth of punk rock n’ roll. The anthemic “Teenagers”
addresses the passing of time and era, but Bombshell Rocks show no signs
of slowing, as evidenced by storming riot starters like “Guns and
Democracy” and "Bloodbrothers”. Overall, “The
Conclusion” is more punk than rock, but it does close with the very Hanoi
Rocks-ing title track, a glammy protest song, if you can imagine such a
thing. Solid. __________________________________________________ |
