Despite the crust-punk sounding moniker,
Disarm is a young sleaze metal
band from the UK. And when I say young, I mean that in certain states in
the US, you might get thrown in jail for fucking them. Well, maybe not
that young, but you get the idea. I’m just guessing, but I’d say Faster
Pussycat loom large on their list of influences, just ahead of Guns N’
Roses, Motley Crue, Skid Row, and maybe Spreadeagle, if they’re really
hip. Their ace in the hole is lead screamer Brad (admittedly, not the best
name for the lead singer of a sleaze metal band, but he’ll probably change
it to Ragz or something before the year is out), who sounds like he’s
spitting hot nails from the depths of his blackened soul. He’s the
ringleader in this psycho circus, and his gang of young tuffs respond to
his shredded screams with a wall of nasty, distorted fuck-metal played
with thunderous abandon. See “Faster, Faster Kill!” or “Too Much Is Never
Enough” for a cuppla prime examples. The only problem is that they trade
raw rock n’ roll for a nu-metal sheen. And there’s nothing I can do about
that, man. As they so boldly state on their hype-sheet, this ain’t no
“cock rock dinosaur resurrection”. Nope. Not even if it sounds like a
Pro-tooled version of exactly that. Make some room, grandpa. Disarm are
the nu youth gone wild! __________________________________________________ |
