STONEAGE HEARTS

Stoneage Hearts are Antipodean Nuggets obsessives and
as such cut a pretty flop haired dash across rugs (Persian 'n' Paisley) with heads perhaps a little too fugged up from bong sludge. They nevertheless rip up in fine Electric Prunes, Standells stylee, with a few interesting asides chucked in, whilst never attaining the dizzying heights of many of that eras great tunes. Very tall order, really, the waft of authentic 60's trip vibe hangs a bit too heavy and makes things a bit too insipid. 'Eye Of A Lie' is The Prunes on a night out (or in, more probably) with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and 'Green With Envy' is rescued like a dainty damsel with a pure Psych-pop chorus from it's concise, choppy rhythms that'd be perfectly fine, cept that Danko Jones has already been out the back and deflowered that little honey. 'Trouble Girl', in another life, could have seen them join the queue of sessionistas on a Chocolate Watch Band record. But not even I can argue with the sentiments of 'Rock'n'Roll Boys And Rock'n'Roll Girls' ('I wanna hang with Mick and Keith / And play my guitar with my
teeth') and it does really see 'em kick 'em out the most for this record, followed by 'Your Greed', a mod-tastic strut thru' 'Gimme Some Lovin'' (altho' the best steal, or subconscious soundalike, is the riff of 'Your Smile' sending The Pointer Sisters 'Jump' bouncing into your head) where things slump in the couch a bit, eyelids start flickering somewhat, especially with lightweight Bo Diddley as done by 'Jump In The Night' era Flamin' Groovies '...at which point I went out to find my RockRoll boys 'n' girls.
