Drakos is a father-son duo from the Czech Republic who play minimalist
gabber techno laced with speed metal riff-loops and stabbing cyber-punk
synth lines. Der Drakos also features the awesomely heavy-accented vox of
Suzi Medusa, the famed and fabled director of goth-dustrial “Pirate
Fetish” porn epics like “House of the She Wolves” and the
just-released “Enjoy the Abyss”, who must sound like the scariest
girl in the whole wide world when she’s on the set barking out orders, if
the seething Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS-like delivery she utilizes here is
any indication. “I want your blood, give me your blood!” she hisses, over
a skeletal motorbike beat, and you can almost see the army of desperately
beautiful Euro-goddesses in red leather motorcross suits with Frankenstein
bolts in their necks marching in step to Der Drakos’ military sexbeats as
Suzi cracks her whips and laughs and commands them to “Kill, kill, kill!”
It’s some serious business, Jack. Best of the bunch for the sheer berserk
imagery has gotta be “Dictator Girls Rule” (“My senses will be
satisfied!”), but the most over-the-top sub-woofer killer is the
head-spinning “Power of Hate Mix”, which sounds like several angry
machines fucking each other into submission. “Time To Fight” and “Joy
Thru Fury” are both pretty boss, too. The whole record is nothin’ but
wild beast throb, really. Sorta like Mussolini Headkick with porn
connections, or Nitzer Ebb without all the greasy hair and gay disco
anthems . If you’re looking for something that sounds like a murder scene
that you can dance AND pop a boner to, then Eureka, you’ve found
it.
