Gasoline Queen are Swedish, and they love rock n’ roll. I could just say “Thank you, good night!” now, because you already know the rest of the story, but I oughta mention that this bitchin’ 4 track demo is full of catchy, well-crafted, glam-punky hard rock, heavily indebted to the Hellacopters, Kiss, Jack Daniels, Russ Meyer, Ford Mustangs, American loudmouths, filter-tipped cigarettes, mirrored sunglasses, the devil, Motley Crue, and Saturday night, in exactly that order. Gasoline Queen love every comic book romance and every broken-bottle barfight of the rock n’ roll pantheon, and they treat it all with respect, honor and plenty of spit n’ slither. For reference points, think Backyard Babies, Hardcore Superstar, Babylon Bombs, and Revolution Riot. As for the demo in question, “That’s All for Now” and the hard-charging “Gasoline Queen” theme are tip-top rauncha-roller tracks here, but the whole thing will surely rattle yr bones but good. I dunno which way GQ are gonna go in the future, whether it’s into darker, more complicated waters ala Silver or 69 Eyes, or whether they’ll continue making sugarbuzzing cock rock, but you’ll like ‘em either way, really, because they are Swedish, and they love rock n’ roll.
