Ok, so they’re called the Pricks, the record is called “Maximum S&M”, there’s a topless, tattooed, ‘billy chick on the cover, and they’re from Sweden. Easy. Sleaze city, right? Wrong-o, fella. The Pricks actually play fast, screamy, 80’s style wreck-the-party hardcore punk, with just the slightest hint of Hives-y, overdriven garage punk, presumably to justify the tits on the back cover. Mostly, though, it’s a relentless barrage of noisy, 90 second sucker punches with built-in gags like “Heavy Metal Sucks” (well, duh), “I Wanna Be A Wino”, and “No More Chicks” that all sound EXACTLY like a Turbonegro long player sped up to 45 RPM. Seriously, with the blistering 10 second guitar leads and chipmunk-punk vox, and all. As you might have gathered, “Maximum S&M" is completely annoying and totally obnoxious, which is probably just what they were going for.
