Los Kikes
(yikes! I don’t name ‘em, Jack) are a buncha Israeli shock troopers mixing up a batch of ugly sonic goo using
the most obnoxious materials they could find, including hoary black metal,
50’s inspired power-boogie (!), stoner rock gunk, plodding doom, hardcore
thrash, and noisy garbage-psyche. Several of the Kikes are from Israel’s
grooviest surf band The Astroglides, and they reportedly built this
headache-machine with the express purpose of becoming the most
‘malevolent’ band in all of Israel, perhaps in all of the Middle East,
which, as you can imagine, is some tall order. They’re well on their way
with this one, that’s for sure. “Alambra” almost makes it as a grotty
garage-punker from hell, but mostly it’s batten down the hatches time,
because you are in for some fuckin’ aural superstorm here. This is pure
gutbucket freakshow stuff that is probably pretty indicative of what it’s
like living in the desert, surrounded by bomb tossing maniacs. _______________________________________________________
