The
Luxury Pushers are a buncha hard luck punks from Hard Luck City, USA
(Dayton, Ohio, for our purposes today). Some of ‘em were in the glampunk
tragedy-baiters the Mystery Addicts, and the sound and vision is pretty
much the same here – crunching, punk fried rock n’ roll guitars,
obnoxious, Stiv-ly vox, and lotsa dead man’s swagger. They’re also pretty
heavy, in a Sub-Pop ’88 sorta way, so if ya squint, you might think they
were the Fluid or Tad without the fat fucker. It’s good, greasy stuff, and
this economically priced and paced seven song EP serves a fine soundtrack
for drinking on the clock or waiting for the weed dealer. Dig the twisty
guit-slinging on “Crumpled Up” and the headbanging sleazebag
anthem “Loser You Want” for some of their finest moments.
And check ‘em out around 2 a.m. behind the dumpster at the Jigsaw Saloon
in Cleveland for some of their not-so-fine moments. _______________________________________________________ |
