Nuts and Bolts |
 I’ll
never understand why the fuck you’d cut off yr hair if you still had
hair, but that’s exactly what Nuts and Bolts do, man. Well, except
for the blonde chick guitar player.
N&B are an Oi! Band, see, from Oakland (duh), who mix up a Molotov
cocktail of riot-ready, Angelic Upstarts-style’77 thug-punk and
muscle-y rock n’ roll riffs (Rose Tattoo, natch), to create a mad
ball (ahem!) of tension, rage, beer piss, and
Saturday-night’s-alright-for-kicking-heads-in punk rock. Luckily for the
PC riot police, N&B keep the politics on the ‘Us VS. Them’ class
warfare sorta level, so fear not the shaved heads. Musically? Well,
halfway through “Dawn of the Snake”, N&B become Iron
Maiden all of a sudden, but otherwise, “Oakland”
is a very traditional Oi! record, with lotsa chugging, one-chord riffs and
“whoa-oh!” singalong choruses. So, if ya dig gruff punk and smacking
fuckers in the mouth, “Oakland” sounds
