dose of Sophisticated thud from these Munich dope jammers. Imagine Clutch
in dashikis circa ’74, and you’ve pretty much got the Hainloose sound – a
slow boil of vaguely militaristic fuzz-metal that rides on the fair winds
of old hippie-punk freakouts. For a trio, they make a very expansive
noise, owing much of their purple mountain majesty to the 8-armed wallop
of drummer David. His tasty fills and caveman bashings twist Burden
State into a much more adventurous journey than you’d expect from
a band rehashing the ol’ ‘desert rock’ formula. The cleverly named
Chernobilly is probably the most Fu-manchewy track on deck if you’re
looking for a quick buzz, but the true heads among us will want sink into
the two-part “Broken Dams” epic, full, as it is, with sonic peaks and
valleys to explore. Hainloose are no Amon Duul, but Burden State is still
a much more free-spirited take on the usual weed-rock shtick. _______________________________________________________ |
