Absent Society |
San
Fran thrashers Absent Society are young, steel-eyed, hoodie wearing
rage-aholics who are planning on destroying the world as we know it
through sinewy, Rollins VS. Sepultura styled sweat-core.
Although I’m not really the kinda guy to join such a labor-intensive
revolution, I admire their youthful enthusiasm for bringing the Man
to his knees. On this crystal-clear EP, they bang out 5 super-aggro
hardcore-metal tracks that feature lotsa tortured howling, jagged
street-riot riffs,
and
a whole proggy Tool-box fulla jazzy flourishes. As you might expect
from the title, the lyrics are kinda heavy-handed, but at least they mean
it, maaan. Oh, and as an added bonus, they tag on a spooky
swamp-voodoo ghost-metal track at the end. It ain’t rock n’ roll by any
stretch of the imagination, but it’s extremely well-played, and sounds
absolutely authentic. One question, tho – who’s the cute teenie
they’re posing with on the traycard pic? When I cracked this one open, I
was really hoping she was the vocalist. Now, THAT would be
hardcore, man. ____________________________________________________ |
