fantastic surf n’ twang from Israel, of all places, peppered with crime
jazz and blasts of space noise and vampy rockabilly and spaghetti western
horns and a little oriental exotica thrown in for good measure. It’s very
cinematic stuff, and sounds quite like something Jim Thirwell would’ve
done in Steroid Maximus, if he spent some time baking in the desert
instead of creepy crawling around NYC. I am not the kinda guy that’s
splits hairs between one space surfin’ instro to another, but I’d say the
monster mashy "Tantura Island" and the cop show stomp of “Shylock Shake”.
are the grooviest numbers on deck. And hey, as a bonus, you get to hear
far-out instruments like the djembe and the baglama. The Astroglides
may have actually made those up, I have no way of knowing. What I do know
is that “Selling Out” will take you on some magic
