Off scene character - “New Opeth review take 1”

Opeth's newest is my favorite release so far this year. There are few bands out there that can do no wrong. This is one of them. They can go from bombastic epics of roller coaster ride genius like Blackwater Park and Deliverance, and then, go to sounding like a darker version of Bread (or some other 70's soft rock band) with the CD Damnation and still hold the torch with utter brilliance. This time around they combined both of those CD's into one big rollicking sandwich and it tastes mighty fine, I might add. That description might sound like a nightmare to some, but to the rest of us, it's a euphoric trip of epidemic proportions. Being epic has never sounded this good.

Off scene character -“That was a good take, do you want to keep it?”

Wow, and not one swear word either. I’m trying to be a little less intense in this one and try a different tact, but it reads like I’m trying to get a job writing for some local city newspaper reviewing the newest “in” thing. You know the ones that appeal to people who say things like “relevant” and use words like “delicious” when “owning” someone. This town is filled with them now. I’m really not “Sorry” to break this to you, but the movie Cruel Intentions is an ok movie in it‘s own way, but it’s no way to go though life and the next time you think of “owning” someone, remember that some people do believe when “Smith And Wesson Talks, People listen.”

“Uncomfortable silence from off-scene clusterheads.”

And look folks, a chill falls over the room over here at the local wannabe yuppie drinking hole. Now listen, you fucking cretins just had a woman on the front page of Time magazine who once said Hitler had some good ideas and you are complaining of what I just said? Fuck that noise. Let’s try this again.

Opeth's newest release is the best fucking release so far this year. There are few bands out there that can do no wrong and this is one of them. In the world of bands that put depth and fucking emotion in their musical expertise, these guys take the cake. Not just take the cake, but take the cake and literally shove it up your ass, laughing all the way to that big bank in the sky right next to Ummagumma and NWOBHM. They can go from bombastic epics of roller coaster ride genius like Blackwater Park and Deliverance, and then, go to sounding like a really dark version of Bread (or some other 70's soft rock band ) with the CD Damnation and still hold the torch with utter brilliance. That description might sound like a nightmare to some music fans, but to the rest of us, it's a euphoric trip of epidemic proportions. And being epic never sounded this good. Now lets get the fuck out of this place, I'm starting to think of wearing my collars up. ________________________________________________________
