DEAD IDENTITIES
Wednesday Night + 2 (demo)
Dead Identities

London based Dead IDentities stake their claim to skate outta the cul-de-sac of post voice-break, pre-heartache pop punk on this excellently produced demo that points the way to be poster boys of the pit. Interjecting some thrash dynamics on occasion provides some added weight, which is a necessary diversion from the rather puerile lyrics which could almost be straight from a Californian skaters diary, adolescent angst amidst the half-pipe. But bringing bullock-balled ballast on their side is the fact that these are incredibly well put together songs, every nook and cranny has been seen to with rampant youthful lust, ‘Hangin’ Around’ must rank amongst the most perfect summer punk anthems that The Wildhearts never recorded, with a chorus that would make Mick Jones nostalgic for the days when he knocked out tunes with a temerity that seems to have passed to these guys somewhere along the way. If you can stomach songs about being home while your chums are off learning what bits of their girlfriends are where (‘Wednesday Night’) and look forward to bouncing around your bedroom shouting with rebellious conviction ‘I just wanna sit on my arse’ as on ‘S.C.A.R.E.D’ then contact the guys here. If not you may well catch ‘em sometime soon on whatever crap television programme is gonna be on C4 this time next year.
