Rarely does stateside industrial-dance rise above the turgid short-circuiting of late-period Skinny Puppy, but the multi-gendered i:scintilla manage to add some dark and melancholy dynamics into the mix. Plus both of the chicks are hot, which certainly helps.

This EP contains four mixes of the goth-tinged “Havestar”, a clattering mélange of distorted guitars, 90’s death-disco beats, and the ethereal ghost-girl vox of stunning beauty Brittany Bindrim. There’s two takes on the more mainstream, Evanescense-y “Scin”, and two mixes of the poppy, icy “Capsella”, as well as the more experimental “The Bells”, all of which would make for perfect Ninnworx porn soundtrack fodder or, I dunno, some kind of vampire happening. Not quite hard enough for my ears, this one, but decidedly sexy stuff, nonetheless. __________________________________________________
