Trailer park hyperbole aside, however, this is a pretty bitchin’ rock n’ roll record, snakin’ its way through the tall grass with Dirty Power riffs, DRI kicks, and Nashville Pussy licks. Songs like “The Gooch,” “Crusty,” “Kill them With Kindness,” and “Life Like” come barking at you like a junkyard dog on a loose leash, while “Woo Lord!” is a sugar coated, Bolanesque melody maker, making it the best of the bunch here – the one shiny hit on this otherwise lean n’ mean grease parade. So, they’ve got the pedigree, the juvenile tendencies, and the catchy rock tunes. Pretty simple. Next time though, I want to see some actual cooter on the album artwork. _______________________________________________________ |

Bands like
The Cooters make my job extremely easy,
mainly because they’ve called themselves The Cooters, and especially
because they’ve called their album Punk Metal. Oh yeah, they’re from
Mississippi too, the dudes in the band have names like Raw Cooter,
Neuter Cooter, and Judas Cooter, and their songs are about carpetbaggers and
redneck sluts from hell. Pretty simple, right?
