Anna
and the Psychomen - No Please, Not Me!!! (Amp) www.amprecords.com |

It was in the Psychomen's home town, after all, that famed and fabled horror star John Carradine breathed his final breath- his last words, in fact, were, "Milan, what a beautiful place to die!" So, it's no surprise that Belinda Carlisle would meet up with some punk rockers from outer space and form a ghoulie groove neo-surf band there. Well, maybe Anna Saccon isn't Belinda, but she does sound a lot like her, a rambunctious pop girl in a punk world, smiling as she skips through the cardboard Ed Wood graveyard that serves as the Psychomen's rock and roll hangout. With cues from The Ventures, the Ramones, and the Misfits, this is pretty classic dance party punk with a nice shot of 50's rock and roll and 60's girl group bounce for added kicks. Anna weaves merrily along from belting out flesh eating anthems like "Anthropophagus" to the bratty girl-Danzig croon of the awesomely titled break-up song, "You Really Got Me Baby, But You're a Nazi (I'm Going to Kill My Nazi Boy)". I swear to god, I love Italian rock and roll. "No Please" is a sweet sugary blast of cartoon punk fun.
