Antiseen - Here to Ruin Your Groove
(TKO)

Well, if anybody's got the balls to do it, it's Antiseen. Here I was, all blissed out on sleep deprivation and cigarettes, daydreaming about slutty Brazilian chicks in go-go boots, and here come the boys from Brutalsville, all raggedy and pissed-off, fucking up my mood completely. Now I have to put my boots on and go burn down the shithouse. Goddamn it. Anyway, this is another in the long line of Antiseen re-releases on TKO, peppered with free-wheeling liner notes from friends and associates and plenty of bloody pictures. It also happens to be my all-time favorite Antiseen record. Contrary to the title, the "Groove" is deep, sweaty, and unwavering on this one, with flashes of Southern rock boogie boiling under the scumpunk crust, hook-filled tunes, big, almost-metal production, and some crazy toothless fucker named "Dean of Sods" ranting like a bad preacher in between the tracks. This is easily the best "For rednecks, by rednecks" production since "Dixie Cuties Go Anal Vol 4", which is saying a lot. How'd these fuckers lose the war, anyway?
