Arthurkill - Addiction

Oh, I get the idea, man. Arthurkill (?) are going for the same kind of flashy, danceable rocktronica as Rockstasy or War In America, and being a forward thinkin' cat, I'm all for it. They've got all the elements of the genre down, too- the slithery synths, the hollowed out drumbeats, and the crunchy pop metal guitars. Unfortunately, to really pull this kind of cunning stunt off, you've gotta be way, way out there, like Tony James and his crazy ass hair and video consoles and Atari babies. Arthurkill, on the other hand, talk about God so fuckin' much I've gotta play Venom's "Warhead" single backwards a couple times just to get them out of my system, and every song pretty much sounds exactly like the first 30 seconds of every Collective Soul song I've ever heard. On the bright side, (for them) that's probably just what Arthurkill are going for. Me, I'll stick with Sweatmaster when I feel like dancing. As if I ever feel like dancing.
