Stacey walks by during second track, "Statue of Liberty", and nods her head approvingly. "What's this?" She asks. "Some kind of 70's rock thing?" Obviously, the new Bomb Turks have moved beyond the snotty, Pagans-wannabe Ohio punk rock they started out with 12 years ago. These days, you can hear a pronounced Stones influence, and even, as on "Like Ghosts", the kind of 60's fuzz-soul that the Makers are known for. That's not to say that the Turks faithful will come away disappointed- every other songs zips along at double-speed, shouting and spitting- just don't expect the New Bomb Turks to upset your parents anymore. Their skewed, neo-retarded sense of humor is still intact as well, if "Don't Bug Me, I'm Nutty" is any indication, and the whole affair is top notch- great production, killer sci-fi cover art, the works. So, I suppose it is a 70's rock thing, baby. It just took a couple decades to get there.
