If I had heard this demo's first track, "Work it like a Whore" free of knowing what the name of the band was or what they looked like, I'd swear they were one of those Crue obsessed redneck punk n' roll bands from Kentucky or somewhere, with guns and pickups and a garage full of dead animals. I would, however, be terribly wrong. PJG are actually from Frisco, lay claim to being "Queer" in the boy kissing, not lone gunman kinda way, and are so goddamn glam that they're practically drag queens. Musically, they're a lot tougher than they look, with one foot in the Sunset Strip and the other in the gutter, sounding somewhere between a 'Fistful of Rock and Roll' band and Pretty Boy Floyd. These recordings are pretty fuckin' raw, though, sounding more like revving motorcycles than a demo in places, which might be where the punk edge comes in. They might even sound like Jellyfish with a few grand to blow. However, they've got three things going for them- they've managed to spell all three words in their name wrong, their bass player, the lion-named Kimba, used to be in the almost legendary death-glitter band Specimen, which is as about as boss as hipster street cred gets, and they have a song who's lyrics go as follows- "The only thing I need to know is rock and roll, and rock and roll/ firecracker, firecracker, blow!" And that, brothers and sisters, is plenty for now.
