Most
split records I've heard have been one bad, one worse- like mincemeat
grindcore bands with 37 tracks each on a 7", two headaches for the
price of one. Double your displeasure. But The Supersuckers and Electric
Frankenstein recently proved that rock and roll can co-exist on the same
record, and the trend continues here, as two Swedish groove hounds make
with the heavy fuzz action. Sergej the Freak, they of the impossible to
spell band name, remind me of Roadsaw, Craig Riggs edition- hard driving
rock and roll that sounds like the slow motion death scene of a grizzly
bear with an arrow in it's belly, rolling around in white hot agony,
trying to take a few motherfuckers out with it. The bass is a distorted
space worm that flattens on impact, and they've got a song called "Shedevil
Rider" Check, check, and check. Burning Engines, while equally
sunburned, are louder and heavier, with chopper blade riffs and a few dips
into downtown doomsville and the biker metal speedway. A Double dose of
manly rock action in one handsome package.
