The Gloryholes ring out classy poppunkgarage tunes of a high standard. Hell they stick in yer ears cos they clean out the dirt and build themselves a little homestead right in there. Just in their garagey style you can bring up a Mudhoney reference yet they're a lot sharper and less bogged down in droney sludge than Mudhoney's best stuff. (Well, Superfuzz and the first album). Captain Jack Endino's given them a spruced up champagne crisp production whilst allowing the dirt in there subtly too, maybe like rinsing your glass in warm water and ignoring the stagnant scuzz marks from the night before, rather than cleaning it properly in the sink with bubbles and shit. Thumbs up from me. Cos if you're gonna play garage rock and hey us smart boys know it's been sat here all along for the most part sitting pretty and generally not giving a shit then at least take a tip from the 'Holes. The Buttholes too if ya like. When you've got vacant vapid by numbers kack like The Star Spangles and all these other lots that come out the woodwork (is it not just like all the hair bands who really were just like a different kinda useless boy band?) all of a sudden then there is injustice in the world cos this is a decent little marvel that should be heard wider than it seems to be. Oh, best line this time has to be (what sounds like) "Baby you gotta be the sorest pussy since Idi Amin".
