| THE LOVETONES - BE WHAT YOU WANT (Evil) |
This
is horrible. Truly excruciating. Instant disgust. (Imagine that in John
Lydon's sneering drone). Rather like a plateful of tripe, or liver, or
sprouts, - yes, insert your own here - put in front of you when you've not
eaten in a couple of days, even if it's with the best possible intentions
that's still exactly what it is. Insipid, unimaginably unimaginative
dreary indie toss pop in Oasis, Verve, Blur lite manner (actually on the
tracks I played it went Verve, Oasis, Beatles, Blur. I'm putting money on
them just swapping them around a bit till the album finished). So
unimaginative in fact, it's even more unimaginative than me not being
arsed to come up with any variations on the unimaginative theme. Such
tame, telegraphed, unadulteratedly tortuous, turgid bobbins is strange and
interesting only cos it seems to come from something calling itself "The
Committee To Keep Music Evil". Hey guys you failed disastrously, keep
trying tho this is fun. The only positive thing to come out of this
experience (I just played bits again to give em the benefit of the doubt
before I started typing this up. I think that's made it worse) is that
when the second song came on I took a risk and leapt off the crapper to
change the CD. I couldn't handle it's foul putrid sewage spoiling the
morning purification of my Guiness and red wine infested intestines any
longer and fortunately the nearest CD to hand was The Knockout Pills.Another strange and interesting point to raise (I'm not even thinking about them name checking the Mighty Mike Scott...) is that BOMP! seem to be involved in this in some way. Can only guess what that's all about. The fucking Last album and now this heinous crime. Might try and pass it on to ma sister but I don't think even she'll like it....so Vinyl Exchange it is then. |
